Samaritan Cancer Center MORE EFFECTIVE TREATMENT, MORE COMPLETE CARE The only cancer care facility to offer all outpatient services in one location, Samaritan Cancer Center is one of the most modern and best-equipped in the region. We combine the latest treatment methods with an overarching concern for the comfort, time, and convenience of patients and their families. Our team approach includes a wide range of therapies, so each patient’s treatment regimen is highly customized and highly effective. Awards and Accreditation In cancer care, certain accreditations and awards aren't a minimum standard, they're recognition of outstanding service and achievement. Commission on Cancer Outstanding Achievement Award We are the only Dayton-area hospital, and one of only 39 hospitals nationwide, to receive this award. The award recognizes board certified specialists in each discipline, a full range of diagnostic and treatment services, participation in clinical research, and weekly cancer conferences. Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations Accreditation Samaritan Cancer Center, in conjunction with Good Samaritan Hospital, was the first Dayton hospital to receive this accreditation. American College of Radiology Accreditation This rigorous accreditation standard recognizes that Samaritan Cancer Center employs some of the most advanced radiation technologies available for the treatment of cancers. Increased accuracy and effectiveness allow treatments to attack cancer without affecting healthy tissue, resulting in fewer side effects. Programs for Breast Cancer and Lung Cancer Patients In addition to the wide range of coordinated services offered to all patients, the Center offers special programs for breast and lung cancer patients. These programs are designed to help patients and their families cope with the many demands and choices created by these diseases. Care coordinators in each program answer questions and help patients and families retain a sense of normalcy. Care Coordinators The name "Care Coordinator" hardly describes the important role these people play in the lives of patients in the Breast Cancer and Lung Cancer Programs. The Care Coordinator is available for each patient and his or her family to help them deal with the unpredictable nature of these diseases. Care Coordinators help patients communicate with their physicians and other staff, and refer patients to a variety of helpful support programs. For each patient, his or her Care Coordinator is a knowledgeable and compassionate companion on a difficult journey. Treatments The many forms cancer can take require effective treatment of many different kinds. Samaritan Cancer Center has experts directing each of these many treatments, and all are part of the multidisciplinary team that develops a treatment plan for every patient. Additional Resources Samaritan Cancer Center is located within Samaritan North Health Center, which was designed specifically to make healthcare serve the needs and convenience of patients and their families.
